Title
Clear Creek Spawning Gravel Restoration Program
Description
Place clean, spawning-sized gravel at selected sites on Clear Creek to improve salmon and steelhead habitat. There are currently three gravel replenishment sites on Clear Creek. Sites are to be selected based on areas of need, hydrology, stream side slopes, access, area sensitivities, and negotiations with public agencies and private land owners to authorize the project. Certain sites may require construction of access roads, temporary stream crossings and turnaround areas. This program is intended to permanently supplement gravel supplies within the system and selected sites would be utilized annually by adding new gravel depending on flood flows and gravel replenishment rates. A typical site will involve between 1,000 and 8,000 tons of gravel.
