Title
Adobe Road and East Washington Street Intersection Improvement Project
Description
The existing approximately 43-foot long, 8-foot wide reinforced concrete box culvert under Adobe Road will be extended approximately 48 feet south (downstream side). The new culvert will accommodate the widening footprint of the road and the proposed 2:1 fill slope down to the new headwall. The existing fill slope is very steep (nearly vertical); the new fill slope will provide a more gentle transition down to the streambed. The reinforced concrete extension will be approximately 8-foot wide and 9-foot tall. The existing headwall and wing walls will be removed and new ones will be constructed at the new culvert outlet. Rock slop protection (RSP) will be placed in the creek channel bottom and along the lower banks (approximately 2-foot up the stream bank) to protect the structure and stabilize the stream bank. RSP will extend about 30-foot downstream of the new outlet. Latitude 38.269N, Longitude 122.609W, the existing culvert is located on Adobe Road, about 350 feet northwest of the intersection with East Washington Street, in the City of Petaluma. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2012-0446-R3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Sonoma County Department of Transportation and Public Works.
