Reclamation District 544 Levee Rehabilitation Project of 1999

Description

This project will repair levee sites damaged by erosion during the "El Nino" floods of 1998. Twenty-three sites that eroded variously from about 5 to 400 feet long and totaling 2,069 linear feet are proposed for repair. Three types of repair work are proposed depending on the type of erosion; existing revetment sites will have the levee slope restored with riprap , and sites on earthen levees with either toe or mid-slope erosion will be restored with compacted earth fill. All repairs will be done above the water line. This project will have no significant adverse effects.
