San Jose International Airport Master Plan Update

Description

The SJC and the location of the APM site is generally bounded by Airport Boulevard, I-880, Coleman Avenue, De la Cruz Boulevard, U.S. 101 and North First Street. The project consists of an update to the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) Master Plan to allow the construction of the Off-Airport Elevated Automated People Mover (APM) which will be located between the SJC and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Metro/Airport Light Rail Transit (LRT) Station on North First Street. The APM is intended as a mitigation measure for SJC-generated traffic and air-quality impacts by providing a non-roadway mode of access to and from the SJC for air passengers and employees. The SJC contains approximately 1000 acres and the proposed alignment for the APM is approximately 0.6 miles in length. The SEIR will also contain an update to the noise analysis that was contained in the 1997 EIR.
