Document Description
The goal of this project is to increase nesting opportunities for cavity-nesting birds and increase native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and grasses to provide more habitat and food resources for invertebrate and vertebrate wildlife. This project will establish 1,930 ft of native plant hedgerow, seed 0.5 acres with native grasses, and install 13 wildlife structures (4 barn owl nest boxes, 2 bat roosting houses, 1 wood duck box, 1 American kestrel box, 4 songbird boxes, and 1 raptor perch). The hedgerows and grass seeding will include native trees, shrubs, perennial wildflowers, and native grasses that will provide forage for beneficial arthropods (e.g., native bees), cover and forage for many vertebrate wildlife species, and the cobenefits of improving soil health and carbon sequestration. The structures for wildlife will include nesting and roosting boxes for several species of birds and bats, and perches for raptors to forage from. Total project area is 3.04 acres. (WCB Project Tracker ID: 2022065).
