Document Description
The San Ysidro School District plans to renovate and modernize the San Ysidro Middle School by upgrading the existing appearance, systems, and equipment; and improving components of site and buildings to enhance functionality and security. The proposed project would make improvements to the front entry, building interiors and exteriors, utilities, landscaping, track, shade structures, student innovation center, and would move the Main Office closer to the school’s entry. The proposed project would not result in a change in the number of classrooms and/or capacity. Construction is anticipated to start in June 2025 and end in September 2026. Students and staff will benefit from the enhanced educational facilities, amenities, and circulation.

The proposed upgrades to the interior and exterior of buildings are exempt under CEQA Guidelines §15301 and §15302, and the replacement of the lockers would be exempt under CEQA Guidelines §15302. The proposed new fencing, new shade structures, conversion of Building 100 to the student collaboration and innovation center, conversion of Building 700 to the Main Office, and expansion of Building 700 by 1,200 square feet are exempt under CEQA Guidelines §15303. The proposed hardscaping, flooring replacement, landscaping, and trenching are exempt under CEQA Guidelines § 15304. The proposed new shade structures, fencing, marquee sign, signage and lockers are exempt under CEQA Guidelines §15311.
