Document Description
PacifiCorp is proposing to complete geotechnical exploratory soil borings at 18 locations within the California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans’) right-of-way along State Route (SR) 3 in Siskiyou County within post miles 13.709 to 30.528. The soil borings are needed to support the installation of a transmission line. Borings will be located in the shoulders or embankments of SR 3 and will extend between 30 and 50 feet in depth. The borings will be completed using a truck or track mounted rotary drill rig equipped with four- to six-inch diameter solid/hollow stem augers and/or mud rotary techniques. Upon completion, the borings will be backfilled with neat cement grout and capped with cold patch or quickcrete dyed black. A lane closure is not anticipated unless utility conflicts are encountered. Caltrans will issue an encroachment permit (0225-6SV-0122) to allow the proposed improvements to occur within the right-of-way of SR 3.
