Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SMO-56247-R3, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Belmont Department of Public Works.
The project aims to address damage to the Salson Trail roadway and an existing 48-inch-diameter corrugated metal pipe culvert conveying East Laurel Creek flows beneath Salson Trail. During large storm events in December 2022- January 2023, the creek overtopped the trail, eroding a portion of the roadway and severely damaging the culvert. The project involves removing and replacing the failed culvert with a new, 60-inch-diameter corrugated metal pipe culvert, installing a headwall, wingwalls, and debris-catcher poles on the upstream end of the culvert as well as a headwall and riprap apron an the downstream end of the culvert, replacing a damaged and at-risk segment of sewer main, and repairing the eroding section of Salson Trail so it can be reopened for firefighting access and recreational use.
