Document Description
Caltrans proposes a project includes 9 ramp meter locations, 7 traffic signal locations, and 3 landscape locations as follows: The 9 ramp meter locations are: I-5 NB Coronado Ave, Hawthorn Ave, India St, Washington/San Diego Ave, and Old Town/Moore St. Also I-5 SB 5th Ave, Kettner Blvd, Hancock St, and Old Town Ave. The scope of work for the ramp meters includes replacing the existing meters, moving meters to be 70 feet from the limit line, guardrail removal and installation, and potential grading depending on ramp meter placement. Foundations for ramp meters posts are 5 feet in diameter and range from 25 feet to 33 feet in depth. The 7 traffic signal locations are: I-5 NB Palm Ave, Palomar St, and Mile of cars/Bay Marina. Also I-5 SB Camino De La Plaza, Via De San Ysidro, Palomar St, and Main/Yama/Division St. The scope of work for the traffic signals includes replacing all conductors, detection (install loops), add intersection camera/gridsmart, replace cabinet, and install APS push buttons at Camino De La Plaza. Foundations for traffic signal posts are 5 feet in diameter and range from 25 feet to 33 feet in depth. The 3 landscape locations are: I-5 Main St NB and SB, Palomar St NB and SB, and L St NB and SB. The scope of work for the landscaping includes replacement of drought tolerant plant material, where appropriate native plant material will be used. Also work includes replacement of irrigation systems, control valves, flow sensors, backflow prevention devices, and sprinkler heads. Any additional work must be assessed by the Environmental Division for environmental compliance.
