Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-ALA-52755-R3, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to California Trout – Central Office.
The Project is limited to the restoration of Alameda Creek through the removal and relocation of a 36-inch diameter gas transmission pipeline, removal of a concrete erosion mat (Er-Con mat), regrading of Alameda Creek, and revegetation of the Project site. Currently, passage of all fish species, including Central California Coast (CCC) steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss) at the Project site is restricted by the Er-Con mat, which creates a 7-foot drop in elevation along the thalweg of Alameda Creek. This barrier prevents adult steelhead from passing upstream at low flows, and restricts juvenile passage upstream at all flows. The barrier is the last remaining fish passage barrier on Alameda Creek, and once removed, will open access to 20-miles of stream habitat. Additionally, the Project will also result in improved sediment routing, riparian vegetation condition, and channel stability throughout the Project site.
