Reasons for Exemption
The CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 categorically exempts projects that involve the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing facilities, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. The project is categorically exempt because it involves the rehabilitation of eight (8) existing bridge decks. The proposed work would occur within the existing street right-of-way, does not otherwise expand the existing use or capacity of the bridges, involves the maintenance of existing bridge improvements, and does not trigger the exceptions to exemptions listed in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2.
