Document Description
The proposed project consists of the installation of a maintenance turn-out lane/safety zone along westbound Mowry Avenue, west of Mission Boulevard. The turn-out lane would provide maintenance-only access to the existing Mowry Avenue pump station, which drains water from Mowry Avenue due to its relative elevation below the existing railroad lines.
The proposed project would include excavation within the existing roadway shoulder and embankment (to create a flat surface) and placement of a 12-inch thick asphalt concrete section to create the turnout-out lane/safety zone. An approximately 221-foot long soldier pile retaining wall would be installed for slope stabilization along the western edge of the project site. The wall would range in height from approximately 7 – 9 feet and consist of approximately 28 12-inch diameter, drilled-in-hole steel piles to a depth of up to 20 feet. The steel piles would be backfilled with concrete.
