Document Description
Project proposes to replace the existing failed irrigation system at the Fallon Garden in Columbia State Historic Park to enable continuous and timely watering that will allow for continued use of the garden for recreation and special events. Proposed work in the garden will include the following: • Assess the existing irrigation layout and identify all broken components; • Map the current system to understand the trenching required and avoid disrupting historical elements; • Remove the existing broken valves, sprinkler heads, and drip lines while preserving surrounding vegetation and garden features, and properly dispose of all removed components; • Excavate, as needed to a depth of no more than 10-inches, to install new valves, sprinkler heads and drip lines suited to the needs of the garden; • Install programmable controllers, if needed, for efficient water scheduling; • Refill and restore any trenches after pipework is completed to maintain the appearance of the historic landscape; • Test and adjust spray and drip settings as necessary; and • Clean up and restore the site to its original appearance.
