Document Description
The County of Riverside Transportation Department is proposing to resurface approximately 0.50 mile of Cherry Avenue from Cougar Way to Brookside Avenue
and 0.06 mile of Cougar Way from Kirby Court to Cherry Avenue. Cherry Avenue is a two-lane roadway within the project limits that has a right-of-way width ranging between 73 feet to 84 feet; the northbound lane (east half of the roadway) is within the jurisdiction of the City of Beaumont. Cougar Way is also a two-lane roadway within the project limits that has a right-of-way width ranging between 63 feet to 88 feet; and the eastbound lane (south half of the roadway) is within the jurisdiction of the City of Beaumont.
The proposed project will include cold planing and removing the existing pavement section and placing Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete
The project will include the following:
• Regrading of roadway shoulders for drainage
• Reconstruction of asphalt concrete dike
• Utility adjustments
• Restriping of roadway, including pavement markers and reflectors
• Salvage/removal and installation of new signs

Reasons for Exemption
The County of Riverside Transportation Department has found that the above-described project is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), based on the following:
Section 15301 (c) – Existing Facilities – The project proposes to resurface
approximately 0.50 mile of Cherry Avenue from Cougar Way to Brookside Avenue and
0.06 mile of Cougar Way from Kirby Court to Cherry Avenue. The project in its entirety
is consistent with Section 15301(c) because it does not create additional automobile lanes and involves no expansion of use of the existing roadway and associated facilities.
