Document Description
The County of San Luis Obispo, Department of Public Works (County) proposes to install approximately 2,900 feet of new metal beam guardrail and end treatments as safety countermeasures to areas with high-risk roadway characteristics on four roadways in San Luis Obispo County. This includes nine locations on Old Creek Road, two locations on Adelaida Road, one location on Creston Road, and four locations on Templeton Road. The need for this project is derived from the County’s Systemic Safety Analysis program, which identified the need for guardrails as safety countermeasures at the subject project locations due to past run-off road collisions. Installation of the new guardrails will involve driving guardrail posts into the ground, approximately six feet apart and setback two feet from the edge of the roadway following the contour of the road.

This action is classified as a Categorical Exemption under the definitions laid out in Article 19, Section 15301(c) (Existing Facilities) in which the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alterations of existing public facilities (such as streets) involving negligible or no expansion of existing use are exempt. During review of the project, no exceptions as described in section 15300.2 of the CEQA Guidelines, were determined to be applicable to the project.
