Document Description
Caltrans proposes a District Director’s Order Request (DDO) emergency request to repair the abutment slope under Bridge # 57-0422F at the southbound I-5 to eastbound SR-94 connector viaduct, which was damaged by persons experiencing homelessness (PEH). The repairs need to be completed to ensure safety to the motoring public, as any continued digging by PEH will degrade the bridge structures integrity and ultimately, lead to failure. Other project activities include construction area signs, traffic control system, and installing slope paving.

Emergency repairs include those that require a reasonable amount of planning to address an anticipated emergency. Specifically, Caltrans needs to repair an abutment slope under an existing bridge to ensure safety to the motoring public. The repairs need to be completed to ensure safety to the motoring public, as any continued digging by persons experiencing homelessness will degrade the bridge structures integrity and ultimately, lead to failure.
