CAL FIRE is proposing to construct and operate the Humboldt-Del Norte Unit Headquarters Facility Relocation project at the project site in the city of Rio Dell, California. The Humboldt-Del Norte Unit serves regional and statewide emergency services requirements. As part of CAL FIRE’s mission to protect lives, property, and natural resources, the Humboldt-Del Norte Unit CAL FIRE Headquarters plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities it serves. The project site is 17.9 acres, was previously zoned Community Commercial and was acquired by CAL FIRE in 2023. The project site provides an opportunity for CAL FIRE to expand and modernize its facilities and operate in an efficient, effective, and quality manner to carry out its mission.
