Document Description
This City of Pleasant hill proposes to conduct routine maintenance activities that are subject to Fish and Game Code 1600 in the City of Pleasant Hill. Routine maintenance is defined as those periodically scheduled activities necessary to maintain design capacity of facilities in our creeks. This agreement term requested will be for 5 years. This annual maintenance project will remove a maximum of 8CY of silt from each of the nine sites. The work area is limited to the portion of the creek lined with concrete below a City owned bridge where the street right of way is approximately 50'. Two separate methods will be used: 1) an excavator/backhoe will be placed on the bridge, with its bucket lowered into the creek area. A laborer will manually place silt in bucket. 2) The laborers will use shovels to move excess silt to side of creek. A vactor vehicle will be placed on top of bridge to remove silt. Laborers ill also use hand tools such as loppers, hoes and anvil pruners to cut back invasive, non-native vegetation to maintain channel capacity. All activities in creek will be performed manually. Care will be taken to not disturb creek water or habitat. All work will be performed during dry weather and during low flow. Work will be restricted to the area beneath the bridge structures and in channels. Only hand tools and manual labor will be used to perform the work in the channels. This is a routine maintenance project to remove silt from culverts & trimming of vegetation to maintain channel capacity as needed.
