Document Description
The District proposes to rebuild the former Paradise Elementary School campus that burned down during the 2018 Camp Fire (proposed project). The proposed project will rebuild the former campus in the original location. The proposed project will include a new parking lot, vehicle drop-off/pick-up area, and bus drop-off/pick-up area. New buildings on the campus will include a new multipurpose/administration building, a TK/Kindergarten building, a learning resources center/STEM classroom/functional life skills building, and two new classroom buildings. Additionally, the playgrounds and playfields will include a kindergarten and elementary play area with shade structures, four square/tetherball courts, basketball courts, soccer fields/open grass area, and a baseball field.
Students from other schools within the District will be relocated to the new elementary school campus; however, the student and staff population will not increase compared to the former elementary school campus. All project improvements will occur on campus, and no off-site improvements will be included as part of the proposed project.

The proposed project will serve the same student and staff capacity as the former elementary school; therefore, the project is exempt from CEQA under Section 15302.

The proposed project will serve the same purpose and capacity as the former facilities, will not substantially increase student capacity, and will only make minor modifications to the existing campus. No off-campus improvements will occur.

The proposed project will rebuild the former elementary school at the same location as the former campus with modernized facilities and will serve the same student capacity. Therefore, the proposed project is statutorily exempt pursuant to PRC Section 21080 (b)(4).
