Document Description
AT&T will deploy a passive optical fiber network using 10 Gigabit per second Symmetrical Passive Optical Network (XGS-PON) technology with a Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) architecture and upgrade its existing FTTP network, which serves Tiers 1-3 customer locations, to XGS-PON. An XGS-PON network operates at 10 Gbps symmetric and AT&T proposes to offer up to 5 Gbps broadband services to residential consumers. AT&T will deploy XGS-PON/FTTP to both existing and new construction customer locations. Aerial fiber will be placed along existing conduit and utility poles. Underground (buried) fiber will be placed in existing rights-of-way, or within private utility easements, on a limited basis. In areas where trenching is performed, the site will be restored by industry-accepted practices. To the extent possible, AT&T will leverage any existing available facilities in the project area including central office equipment, and other deployed facilities.
