Document Description
Love’s Travel Stops is proposing to complete soil borings at 11 locations within the California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans) right-of-way along State Route (SR) 36 in Lassen County within post miles R26.84 to R26.53 in the City of Susanville. The soil borings are needed to support construction of a new Love’s Travel Station (fueling station and convenience store) at the northwest corner of SR 36 (Main Street) and East Skyline Road. Five of the proposed soil borings would be located within either the west paved or unpaved shoulder of SR 36, between Riverside Drive and East Skyline Road. Six of the boring locations would be located along the north paved or unpaved shoulder of East Skyline Road, between SR 36 and Johnstonville Road. The soil borings would be drilled by a truck or track mounted rotary drill rig and would be backfilled with neat cement grout and capped with cold patch, quickcrete dyed black, or Class II aggregate base (if located in unpaved shoulder). Boring would require shoulder work, road closures, and flaggers. Caltrans will issue an encroachment permit (0225-6SV-0065) to allow the proposed improvements to occur within the right-of-way of SR 36.
