The UCLA School of Dentistry proposes the reconfiguration and renovation of approximately 2,505 square feet of floor area within multiple rooms in order to add eight patient chairs and associated support areas for the UCLA Special Patient Care Clinic to better serve patients with special health care needs. The project will create a new patient care clinic, including open clinic space, calming and quiet treatment rooms, a reception area, a sterilization room, storage, a mechanical support room for dental equipment, and a new all gender restroom. The scope of work includes modifications to the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems; modifications to the existing wall systems; reconfiguration of the existing restrooms; required accessibility improvements; installation and anchorage of equipment; new interior finishes; and upgraded landscaping in the adjacent exterior atrium.

Notice of Exemption
Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
§15301, Existing Facilities
Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt under Article 19, Section 15301, Class 1, Existing Facilities, because it consists of interior alterations to an existing facility with negligible expansion of use. There would be no change in gross floor area or general dental care/instruction and related support uses within the School of Dentistry as a result of the project. The project's increase in patient capacity and associated staffing support is considered negligible. Additionally, no exceptions to the exemptions pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
