Document Description
This project will enhance vehicular circulation and traffic safety by creating a "No Stopping at Any Time" restriction on Mountain Road 99 south of the Spring Hill South Dispersed camping area and north of the Calkins Flat North Dispersed camping area. The project will consist of installing "No Stopping at Any Time" signs for approximately 330 ft on the west side and 700 ft on the east side of M99 southward from the Spring Hill South Dispersed camping area entrance, and for approximately 700 ft on both sides of M99 northward from the Calkins Flat North Dispersed camping area entrance, north of the unincorporated community of Kernville, CA. In response to concerns regarding vehicles parked on the roadside and partially on the road, creating a traffic hazard, the Tulare County Resource Management Agency (RMA) in collaboration with the Forest Service investigated these concerns and determined that a "No Stopping at Any Time" restriction would eliminate this hazard, enhancing vehicular circulation and traffic safety.
