Document Description
The purpose of this project is to conduct a live fire training exercise within a 47 acre area at Henry W. Coe State Park to provide training for State Parks staff fire-trained personnel. This training will aid in vegetation removal to reduce fuel load and promote native vegetation growth. Work will: Utilize existing roads for fire containment lines; Use hand tools to practice cutting new line, no more than 1 foot deep to bare mineral soil, within the 47 acre fire training plot; and Use trained fuels crews, under the direction of a certified prescribed fire Burn Boss, to implement the broadcast prescribed fire work, in accordance with the signed Burn Plan. Burn prescription plans will be written, and burn plots will be mapped, in coordination with natural and cultural resource specialists in such a way to avoid impacts to resources. Rare plant populations observed within the plot will be mapped and monitored closely for responses to guide future treatments.
