The project consists of replacement playground equipment in the location of the previous playground area (Section 15302, Replacement/Reconstruction). The replacement equipment would have the same purpose and capacity as the previous playground facilities, which are permitted uses in a designated park. The project includes minor alterations to existing hardscape and ground surface areas (Section 15304, Minor Alterations to Land). Minor ground disturbance would occur with relation to the site improvements. One (1) tree would be removed and five (5) new trees would be planted as part of the project. The one (1) tree to be removed poses a safety risk. The remaining existing trees would be protected in place. All construction activities would be required to comply with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA).
