Document Description
The proposed project would include beach nourishment of five public beaches with high-quality beach sand to protect against coastal erosion. The Los Angeles County Department of Beach and Harbors (LACDBH) Sand Compatibility Opportunistic Use Program (SCOUP) includes five sites: Zuma Beach, Will Rogers State Beach, Dockweiler State Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach. Beaches were selected based on a variety of criteria including present and future coastal erosion and flooding risks and vulnerabilities, presence of critical public infrastructure and existing structures, recreational amenities, and economic benefits. Sand would be delivered to the beach where it would be placed along the beach using equipment.
