Document Description
The Project consists of the construction, operation, and maintenance of upgrades to the existing PG&E Plainfield Substation to address low-voltage concerns. The upgrades include addition of two new 5 megavolt ampere reactive power (MVAR) shunt capacitor banks and related equipment, to boost the voltage of the 60 kilovolt (kV) lines to acceptable levels. The existing 0.9 acre substation footprint would be expanded by 5.2 acres to accommodate all Project components, including upgrades to the existing 60 kV bus, installation of a new station battery enclosure and larger modular protection automation and control enclosure, replacement and addition of tubular steel poles and all-aluminum conductor power lines, new stormwater retention pond, fencing, lighting, and access road improvements.
