Document Description
Project work proposes to remove three (3) invasive plant species identified as growing in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park to eradicate the non-native species and provide improved habitat for native species. The targeted species and their locations are:
One (1) small infestation of silver wattle (Acacia dealbata);
One (1) infestation of Aaron’s beard (Hypericum calycinum) located near the boat launch area in the Jedediah Smith Campground; and
Multiple infestations of cotoneaster (Cotoneaster sp.) in the campground and an infestation of silver wattle outside of the campground, across Highway 199.
Removal work will be carried out via hack/cut and squirt and/or foliar applications of herbicides to remove the targeted plants. All removed vegetation will be pile burned or transported to an appropriate dumping area and composted or burned.
