Document Description
The North Yuba Water District's NYWD four water tanks are susceptible to intentional contamination. Graffiti seen near ladders indicates unauthorized access, raising concerns about potential contamination of treated drinking water. The ladders provide access to the top hatches (which are locked) and screened vents, which could allow liquids to enter, posing a serious biohazard risk. To mitigate risks, NYWD plans to install security fencing and signage around the tanks. installation of the fencing would include: 6' galvanized chain link fence with three rows of barbed wire along the top, including one 16-20-foot-wide double drive swing gate with two leafs for all four tanks. Challenge and Forbestown tanks would also include small pedestrian gates.
