Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SHA-54794-R1, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Redding, as represented by Amber Kelley. The project is limited to activities associated with a city-wide fuels reduction and trash clean-up project, with the purpose to protect the health and safety of the public and to protect and restore ecosystems on natural lands to provide climate change adaptation and resilience for wildlife. The initial industrial scale effort will require the use of small, mechanized equipment to remove large quantities of trash and refuse that has been illegally dumped on public land. The second step will remove “hazardous” riparian vegetation to lower the potential for fire in the wildland-urban interface. Work will include understory thinning and tree trimming to create and maintain shaded fuel breaks, as well as removal of dead trees and invasive species.
