Other Location Info
The Project area is in the Town of Hillsborough in unincorporated San Mateo County. The Project area is within unsectioned portions of the San Mateo and Pulgas Land Grants and is depicted on the Montara Mountain, California, and San Mateo, California. The proposed alignment parallels Interstate 280 (I-280) and Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35), Golf Course Drive, and Crystal Springs Road in the foothills just east of the Crystal Springs Reservoir and San Andreas Rift Zone. The locations of each of the six proposed segments are detailed below. Segment UG-06-SMC begins just north of Kip Lane and west of the Hillsborough Hills neighborhood and extends southeast along Skyline Boulevard for 2,127 ft (0.40 mi) to segment UG-06-TOH. UG-06-TOH begins approximately 150 ft north of the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and Summit Drive and extends south-southeast on Skyline Boulevard and west of the Skyfarm neighborhood for 4,156 ft (0.79 mi). Segment UG-07-CALTRANS begins on Golf Course Drive, approximately 215 ft southwest of Black Mountain Road, and extends southwest across I-280 for 775 ft (0.15 mi) to Skyline Boulevard. Segment UG-07-TOH begins on Skyline Boulevard near the intersection of Skyfarm Drive and extends south-southeast for approximately 4,300 ft (0.82 mi) to Golf Course Drive, which extends southwest for approximately 400 ft. The total length of segment UG-07-TOH is 4,700 ft (0.89 mi). Segment UG-08-SMC begins at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Park-and Ride lot at Hayne Road (6601 Golf Course Drive) and extends south along Skyline Boulevard for approximately 6,600 ft (1.26 mi) to the intersection with Crystal Springs Road and Sawyer Camp Trail. Segment UG-08-CALTRANS begins at the juncture of Crystal Springs Road and southbound I-280. It extends under the San Mateo Creek Bridge (1898 Crystal Springs Road) and east for 4,293 ft (0.81 mi) to its terminus at the Crystal Springs Road and Polhemus Road intersection. This segment parallels San Mateo Creek and terminates at the confluence with Polhemus Creek. Based on the known distribution of archaeological sites, which, in Santa Clara County, tend to cluster along waterways and creeks and near the foothills or Bay margins, segment UG-08 CALTRANS is in an archaeologically sensitive area solely by location.
