Pedestrian crossing improvements along Kearney Boulevard at intersections with Siskiyou Avenue, Park Avenue, and Fourth Street. The improvements consist of installing high visibility crosswalks, rectangular rapid flashing beacons, signage, and bulb-outs. The Beneficiaries of the Project will be all road users along the subject street.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is exempt from further environmental review pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301, Existing Facilities as it consist of the minor alteration to a existing public structure. Furthermore according to Section 15301(c) - Existing Facilities, Class 1. states examples of exempt facilities that include “transit improvements such as bus lanes, pedestrian crossings, street trees, and other similar alterations that do not create additional automobile lanes.” The project includes the addition of new pedestrian crossings and will not create additional automobile lanes.
