Document Description
The Primary Clarifiers Rehabilitation Project involves conducting necessary maintenance to the existing Primary Clarifiers numbers 1-3 located at the Chico Water Pollution Control Plant. Portions of the existing clarifiers will be repaired and components replaced. Existing structural and mechanical/piping equipment will be removed and demolished. Shotcrete form walls will be constructed in two of the existing clarifiers and an epoxy coating will be applied to the surface of existing concrete structure. Repairs will be made to the concrete structure and process piping. Specific equipment anticipated for full replacement includes the gate and actuator, process instrumentation, sludge collection motor, sludge collection chain, pit pumps, and Programmable Logic Controller.

Reasons for Exemption
The project consists of the repair of existing mechanical equipment for a publicly owned sewer utility plant. The project involves no expansion or increase in sewer capacity of existing use. The project area has been previously disturbed. There are no unusual circumstances leading to a reasonable possibility that significant environmental impacts will result from the project. Therefore, the City finds that the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in accordance with CEQA Section 15301 (d).
