Document Description
Caltrans proposes to construct a retaining wall on Highway 1 at post mile 36.36 near Lee Drive at Stillwater Cove where a slipout occurred during the recent rain events. This emergency work is necessary to prevent and mitigate the loss or impairment of life, property, or essential public service. Delaying these repairs will further exacerbate the already apparent storm damage and predicted heavy and continuous rain events, which cannot be avoided, are expected to make conditions worse. The slipout was 65 feet long and 40 feet deep and exposed waterlines and communication conduits. Construction of a retaining wall will stabilize the roadway embankment. The damaged roadway will be grinded and repaved, and repaired using polyurethane injection. All work will remain within Caltrans right of way.
