Document Description
CAL FIRE would provide funding to Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel to implement tribal wildfire resilience treatments to manage their ancestral lands in San Deigo County and benefit the Iipay People. Treatments include traditional and modern techniques to conduct fuel reduction activities (manual and mechanical), prescribed burning (pile and cultural), restoration efforts, and firewood harvesting to support the Reservations community wood bank. These treatments intend to increase forest health and resilience, improve cultural food sovereignty, and promote employment opportunities through workforce and development trainings. The overall project aims to serve California Native American Tribes and advance wildfire resilience, forest health, and the cultural use of fire.
