CAL FIRE would provide funding to the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to conduct mechanical and manual thinning treatments on National Park Service lands near the Palomarin Field Station and manual thinning and invasive plant removal treatments lands near Marin City. These treatments aim to increase forest health conditions through removing fuel to reduce wildfire risks to local resources and community members, promote native plant and wildlife species, and improve forest resiliency.

Reasons for Exemption
CEQA does not apply to fuel reduction, reforestation, & habitat restoration projects undertaken, in whole or in part, on federal lands to reduce the risk of high severity wildfire that have been reviewed under the NEPA, if the primary role of a state or local agency is providing funding or staffing for those projects. The proposed project was reviewed in its entirety under the Point Reyes National Seashore NEPA Final Environmental Impact Statement and Fire Management Plan signed, October 29, 2004, and the Golder Gate National Recreational Area NEPA Final Environmental Impact Statement and Fire Management Plan signed, February 23, 2006.
