Document Description
This project proposes to replace, repair, and refurbish MEP systems and laboratory equipment damaged during a 2023 flood event and restore the laboratory back to its original condition. The scope includes demolition and replacement of the concrete flat work around the loading dock, demolition and reconstruction of the interior basement levels, repair of the CMU wing wall, replacement of all plumbing and mechanical equipment, refurbishment or replacement of the various laboratory equipment. No change in use, SF, or capacity is proposed.

This project will reconstruct an existing building, along with replacement of associated internal facilities and site landscaping, with no change in size, use, or capacity, which qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 2 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The Class 2 exemption applies to replacement or reconstruction of existing structure and facilities where the new structure will be placed at the same site and have the same purpose and capacity as the structure being replaced. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
