Document Description
Project consists of vegetation reduction and/or modification along fire roads and Highway 29 in and adjacent to Robert Louis Stevenson State Park to improve access along road corridors and enhance ecological resilience in the park. Crews will:
• Thin and remove targeted vegetation, such as small diameter conifers, bay laurels and trees and ladder fuels up to 20-in. DBH;
• Remove dead woody plant material, shrubs, and small trees;
• Limb larger trees up to a height of 10-ft;
• Prune foliage of retained trees up to 10-ft. above ground or up to 1/3 of total live foliage;
• Thin live shrubs; and
• Burn or chip vegetative material.

Project consists of the operation, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels and minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees except for forestry or agricultural purposes, and is included as “resource management projects” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR § 15300.4.
