Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, § 15314
Reasons for Exemption
The Class 14 categorical exemption (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, § 15314) applies to minor additions to existing schools within existing school grounds where the addition does not increase original student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms, \\hichever is less. Here. Mare Island Health & Fitness Academy, which has an enrollment of 424 students. will close. Vallejo Charter School, which has an enrollment of approximately 350 students, will be moved to the Mare Island Health & Fitness Academy site. The Mare Island Health & Fitness Academy site has a capacity of 750 students. The District plans to relocate the TK program to an alternative school site and with matriculation expects only 671 total enrollment should all of the students from the closed Mare Island Health & Fitness Academy site choose to enroll at Vallejo Charter School, well below the capacity of 750. Thus, the additional students do not increase the school's original student capacity. While all of the students from the closed Mare Island Health & Fitness Academy may attend Vallejo Charter, they also have the option to attend other District schools.
