Document Description
A malfunction occurred within the Badger Hill Pumping Plant (BHPP), leading to an excess amount of water being released into the BHPP holding ponds. Due to a corroded and damaged pipe between the holding ponds, only one pond could be utilized. This led to a risk of overtopping. To strengthen the stability of the first holding pond, and to lessen the risk of overtopping, DWR staff will fill and compact erosions on the south side of the first holding pond and will replace a portion of the pipe between the first and second pond.
To repair erosions on the first pond, a backhoe with a sheepsfoot will be used to fill and compact erosions. A dump truck would be used to bring in fill material. A water truck may be used to control dust and aid in compaction.
To repair the pipe between pond 1 and 2, a backhoe, water vacuum truck, and/or hand tools will be used to excavate the damaged portion of the pipe. Then hand tools will be used to remove and install the new pipe section. Lastly, the pipe will be reburied using a backhoe and a dump truck.
All work will take place within the DWR right-of-way.
