Document Description
The project consists of a request for a Use Permit Amendment to 2001-UPP-PRS-0825 to replace two (2) existing decedent coolers, at approximately 700 square feet, with one (1) larger decedent cooler at an existing mortuary/cemetery in the Residential 2 (RD-2) zoning district. The proposed new decedent coolers will be located inside a new 1,679± square foot building shell, located behind the existing chapel and mortuary buildings. The new decedent coolers will be in the same location as the existing coolers. The purpose of the cooler replacement is to replace the existing, aging coolers, with a more efficient cooler at a slightly larger capacity, and to mitigate water intrusion and further property damage. A non-native coniferous tree is proposed for removal due to the project request.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 2 consists of replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. The project is the replacement of a commercial structure with a new structure of substantially the same size, purpose, and capacity. The project consists of the replacement of two (2) existing decedent coolers with a new decedent cooler within a 1,300± square foot new building shell for an existing mortuary/cemetery. Thus, the project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
