Document Description
The Project will rehabilitate approximately 2.5 miles of Petersen Memorial Drive within Lower Bidwell Park to address pavement deterioration. Excavation depths associated with the rehabilitation work are not anticipated to exceed 18 inches. Approximately two feet of shoulder backing will be added to stabilize the edges of the pavement. The parking lots at either end of the project footprint located adjacent to Sycamore Pool on the west end and near the intersection of Vallombrosa Avenue and Shalimar Court on the east end will be resurfaced to improve durability. New and updated signage will be added to improve wayfinding for bicycles, pedestrians, and vehicles.

Reasons for Exemption
The project consists of repaving and repairing an existing roadway. The project involves no increase in capacity. The project area has been previously disturbed and includes existing roadway surfaces in need of maintenance. There are no unusual circumstances leading to a reasonable possibility that significant environmental impacts will result from the project. Therefore, the City finds that the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in accordance with CEQA Section 15301 (c).
