Document Description
The Yurok Telecommunications (YTEL) Fiber project will consist of fiber optic cable installation (buried and aerial) along Highway 101 in Del Norte and Humboldt counties, and Del Norte Route 169. For the fiber installation portion of this project, YTEL will utilize previously disturbed rights-of-way (ROW), established streets, roadways, or travel routes during construction. The proposed project will enable access to wireless internet services for anchor institutions and fixed wireless access to 200 households, throughout the Yurok Tribal Reservation. In rural areas communication (internet) is important, providing communities with services that would normally be unavailable, such as college classes, medical services, libraries, and even Tribal related programs. Access to these services is desperately needed in this area.
