Document Description
The Alameda County Public Works Agency (County) proposes sidewalk improvements on Heyer Avenue from Redwood Road to Center Street in the unincorporated community of Castro Valley in Alameda County. The project consists of removal and replacement of dilapidated cement concrete sidewalk; constructing new concrete sidewalk, driveway, curb and gutter, bulb-outs, and pedestrian ramps; reconstructing and resurfacing the roadway pavement; removing approximately 27 trees; relocating and planting trees; signing and striping; provision of and/or relocation of retaining walls at certain locations, as needed; provision of bioretention areas, replacing damaged drainage inlets; landscaping and streetscaping improvements; and relocating and adjusting utilities, as needed. The project and its construction activities would be within the County road right-of-way and include traffic control measures and best management practices to protect the environment. The purpose of the project is to improve drainage and stormwater runoff, improve pedestrian and bicycle safety, and facilitate access to Castro Valley High School, Creekside Middle School and Canyon Middle School.
