Document Description
Road rehabilitation project of the roads in the vicinity of Herbert Avenue
and Walkup Road in South Lake Tahoe, replacement of existing drainage infrastructure is needed. Most of the culverts in this area were installed pre-1980’s and are 12” corrugated metal pipes (CMP) with inadequate cover. Prior to repaving these roads, culverts beyond their useful life and with inadequate cover will be removed and replaced to ensure drainage functions as previously installed and to allow for adequate cover over the pipes. The project design will assess which culverts need to be replaced; however, it is likely at least 8 of the 18 identified in the area will be replaced with this project. It is anticipated that existing CMP culverts will be
replaced with reinforced concrete pipe (RCP); however, project design will specify. Ditches along the edge of roadways between culverts will be re-established to ensure a continuous flowline with the replaced culverts.
