Other Location Info
The current proposed alignment segments include two distinct fiber optic cable connections. The segments together span approximately 2.23 miles within the City of San Jose. The northern segment passes through Brokaw and runs along North Valley, while the southern segment passes through Orchard, crossing Coyote Creek and interstate 880. Most of the alignment is located within the paved roadway, but the connection occasionally traverses ruderal or landscaped areas in roadway shoulders or medians. The northern end of the northern segment is located at a pre-existing manhole on the northwest corner of the intersection of Lundy Ave and Fortune Drive. The alignment travels south along Lundy Ave for approximately 0.66 miles, then turns west and continues along McKay Drive for 0.59 miles before turning south on Oakland Road for 0.08 miles and terminating at a pre-existing manhole between N Front Way and McKay Drive. The northern end of the southern segment begins at a pre-existing manhole just south of the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Oakland Road. The alignment travels north along Oakland Road for approximately 0.11 miles, then turns west on Fox Lane for 0.09 miles before turning south and travelling along Ridder Park Drive for approximately 0.4 miles. The alignment then runs west along E Brokaw Road for 0.29 miles, crossing under Coyote Creek and the Interstate 880 overpass before terminating at the intersection of O’Toole Avenue and E Brokaw Road, tying to a pending Brokaw build. The Project Area in general can be characterized as urban. It is directly adjacent to a larger arterial road along most of its length, and adjacent land uses are predominantly light industrial, residential, and office complexes. There are numerous existing underground utilities and roadway elements that extend and crisscross throughout the Project Area. The proposed alignment crosses underneath Coyote Creek in one location.
