Document Description
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a permit to the University of California, Davis pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 2081(a) for scientific purposes. The Section 2081(a) permit authorizes the applicant to potentially take Southern Oregon/Northern California ESU and California Central Coast ESU coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch), Sacramento River winter-run ESU and Central Valley spring-run ESU Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), Southern California DPS steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss irideus), and white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) during the course of sampling, subject to terms and conditions set forth in the permit. The purpose of this sampling is for a research study on various elasmobranch species. The applicant will conduct year-round research sampling of elasmobranch species throughout California through the use of hook & line – surface and hook & line – baited dropper loops through December 31, 2027.
