Document Description
The proposed project aims to address the deterioration of four severely corroded steel piles situated within the Dominguez Channel, serving as supports for the Alameda feeder trunk line. The project necessitates immediate action and repair work is to rehabilitate all four pipe support piles that will be encapsulated with grout to ensure structural reinforcement. Project activities include a diving team starting at the bottom where the piles are embedded into the channel, the riverbed will be excavated approximately 2 feet below the mud line, and the fiberglass jackets will be placed around each damaged pile. The bottom of the jacket and all joints will be sealed, and grout will then be pumped into the space between the jacket and the pile along the full height of each pile. The goal of the project is to safeguard the continued functionality and reliability of the Alameda feeder trunk line and preserving the uninterrupted supply of water to Wilmington and the Port of Los Angeles service areas.
