Document Description
Geophysical survey will be conducted on the Santa Clara River near I-5. The activity will involve hand crews laying out wire generally parallel with and adjacent to the river thalweg, as well as several cross-river channel locations. The geophysical lines will be placed on the ground surface, temporarily staked into the ground with short stakes. The elevation of the line will be surveyed. Once the measurements are completed, the stakes and lines will be removed. Line placement will follow the terrain and may be routed around obstacles as needed, such as trees and brush areas. No scour or erosion is anticipated beyond what naturally occurs during high flow events. Vegetation within the riparian area along the river channel will not be disturbed with the exception of possibly being temporarily tied back to minimize damage. No vegetation will be removed during the survey. Work will be completed outside of the Least Bells Vireo nesting season.
