Document Description
The focus of this fuel reduction effort is to remove downed/dead vegetation in areas closest to existing access roads and structures, where health and safety is at highest risk from fire. Removed vegetation will be hauled from the site via trucks with trailers to a staging area 1/2 mile away from the grove for processing. No live trees would be trimmed or cut. This fuel reduction project will aid in protecting the community from catastrophic wildfires as well as protecting the overwintering site for the monarch butterfly. The monarch butterfly is a threatened species and there is a push to protect the overwintering sites to aid in rebuilding the population.
